Overview: This is a rehearsal plan I used with a chamber choir that I direct.

The emphasis of this rehearsal is presenting the introduction of the song and then synthesizing the piece as a whole.

Summary: When I used this rehearsal plan, there was good connection to student learning; I was able to confidently get the rehearsal started and build relationships with the singers throughout.

Overview: Here is a lesson plan I wrote and presented to fourth graders on a field trip to Fort Abraham Lincoln. We learned about survival during the times of early settlers.

Summary: The students were very attentive, although I plan to follow up the activity with more discussion and formative assessment at the end of future lessons.

Overview: Here is a lesson plan I would use to teach a middle school band rehearsal. We would be working on the piece of music for an upcoming concert, while incorporating musical elements such as dynamics.

Summary: To connect to student learning, I intend to include differentiation for visual, kinesthetic, and auditory learners in my daily rehearsal routine.

Overview: This file outlines a lesson explaining the use of correct pronunciations in a folk song. I used a similar process when working with a small collegiate ensemble.

Summary: In this setting, instruction can be very interactive with a smaller choir. The teacher-student ratio would facilitate effective scaffolding and individualized attention.

Overview: This lesson plan contains Kodaly-inspired activities for second graders. It follows the prescribed

5-Step Plan: Opening, High Concentration, Change of Pace, Moderate Concentration, and Ending/Closing.

Summary: The integration of preparing, presenting, and practicing allow students to really grasp a concept rather than simply focusing primarily on the presenting aspect.
